International Railroad Discussion > Hurrican Patricia and the FXEDate: 10/24/15 09:12 Hurrican Patricia and the FXE Author: tp117 Checking maps and Google Earth Ferromex's ex-Pacific RR mainline is near but quite a bit inland from where the hurricane landed. Probably far enough that winds would not be the major concern. But FXE from Ruiz on the coastal plane not too far inland climbs 2924 in 61 miles to Tepic. That averages less than one percent grade but I think the actual climb is much shorter and steeper. Part of it runs along rivers and creeks, and there are five horseshoe curves. I wonder how this line withstood the hurricane and imagine they are just starting to find out.
