Vale passenger train (EFVM)
Author: pedrop

Hi, for those interested in visiting Brazil I recomend a trip on Vale passenger train from Belo Horizonte, MG to Cariacica ES. It is the old EFVM railroad operated by Vale mining. The train departures daily from each city and do the 664 Km in about 10 hours. It is a nice opportunity to know Vale mining narrow gauge system. I attached some pics of my last trip there in October 24, 2015

1 - GE BB40-9W is the leading unit of train P-002 at Belo Horizonte staiton. At side a train of steel leaded by GE BB40-9W 1164,  EMD DDM45 811 and 874 bound to Eldorado yard where it will do connection with fca ( VLI)

2 - Me in front coach 03 of train P-002. These new cars were made by ARAD in Romania in 2014.

3 - The electronic in each cars show the train number, the station where it is (Belo Horizonte), the destination (pedro Nolasco), the car class (Executive) and car number (02)

very nice photos Pedro.Just noticed that the former CEO of Vale and his family were killed a couple od days ago, when their private jet crashed
.'' Roger Agnelli, the former head of the Brazilian mining giant Vale, has died after his private jet crashed into a residential building in Sao Paulo, local media reported.

Agnelli, his wife and two of his children were among seven killed when his aircraft slammed into the building around 18:20 GMT on Saturday, minutes after taking off from an airport in northern Sao Paulo, an aviation official told Reuters news agency.''

Our train arriving at Intendente Camara station, in Ipatinga, MG. I usually do the trip between Belo Hozionte and Ipatinga since we have almost two and halth hours to take train P-001 back to BH. The railfans use to go to Ipatinga to lunch in the Mall there and then take P-001 back. it also have time to spend an hour or so in the station watching Vale trains in action. Intendent Camara yard serves Usiminas steel mill, so there are many train passing there all day.

A hint to railfans is to stay in the last car of the train and photograph from the door ant the end of the car. That door hasa clear class window and we can take greap pics as we see here.

1 -  Mario Carvalho station and yard, with an ore train waiting in the blocking section to our train pass ahead.

2 - Ana Matos tunnels

3 - Antonio Dias stop.
