Taking highway 292 down from Kusatsu we found the ruins of the terminus of a branchline from Naganohara that was constructed to transport iron ore.

Ooshi Line briefly carried passengers from 1954 to 1970 - photo #3 describes that, with a photo of a DMU to the left.

Couldn't find other railroad remains below O-o-shi or even where it connected in Naganohara. Deserves another trip as there are other parts of the Agatsuma line which will be covered by the new dam and lake. I'll try to interpret the sign just didn't have time now.
