Author: pedrop

Hi, last weekend I was at ABPF (Brazilian Association of Railway Preservation) in Campinas, Sp Brazil to run the special Mogiana´s train. it wasa celebration to Railroader´s day in Brazil, on April 30. The train was leaded by GE 64 tons number 3. It also had  EMD GL8 3622 newly acquired from fca.

1 and 2 - Mogiana´s train at Anhumas station before the start of the run to Jaguariuna;

3 - The newly acquired GL8 3622 got a ride in our train to Carlos Gomes shops where it will be retored and painted into former Mogina livery.

The consist of our train was: a steinless steel car, an wooden restaurant, a business car, a flat car and caboose.

1 - An inside view of the restaurant car;

2 - The newly acquired caboose;

Thanks for your post Pedro. It is always interesting to see what other preservation groups are doing. Also, I was quite pleased to see that No. 215 is still operating. By my caluclations she is apptroaching 40 years of service for the ABPF. Here are three shots from my only visit to the museum in October 1978. I still have the "Locomotiva" poster of her I purchased during my visit.

Cheers,
Jack

Pedrop, thanks for your pix, I enjoyed the ride.
What is/was the energy source for the headlights on 215 and 338?

Interesting question, Lurch. It had me going for a moment as the generator on the 215 in my 1978 photos was between the steam dome and the cab. It has since been moved between the headlight and the stack. I believe the generator on the 332 is just in front of the cab.

Cheers,
Jack

Hi, I contacted a friend at ABPF site in Campinas and he said me bolth locomotives use the original steam generators. They were moved to other position for better maintenance access

Thanks for your posting. Interesting mix of old and new, all unusual to these US eyes. Was the Budd coach built for Brazil? (I am assuming it is a Budd.)  All well maintained - the buffet car is really nice.

Jack, I send these pics to my friend Vanderlei Zago at Campinas site. He said me the cars in the pics arrived at the site in 1984. Are you sure the pics were taken in 1978, or they are from 1987?
