I traveled to Japan this month to observe and record various Passenger freight Sinkansen trains with a fellow trainorders member

The bus (K-L656, based on Hino Heavy Industry's Rainbow series) is assigned exclusively to Tokyo Transportation Agency's ("Toei")  tourist-centric route, the S-1. The route goes to Tokyo Station, Ueno Park, Asakusa, the nearby Sky Tree, and of course Akihabara where you saw it. The service (and the unique bus) was introduced in 2008, so it looks like another example of retro-futurism, like Nankai's Rapit Airport Express, some of the Arakawa Line streetcars (also operated by Toei), and so forth.

I believe the Tokyo One Day Free Ticket (Day Pass) is valid on this route, and there are other less expensive day passes valid on this line as well. Based on my quick research, this line is worthy of a report by itself, so I might investigate more on my future visits to Japan, unless someone else (like you) beats me to it.

I'm glad C57-180's rebuild went well, as it's back for the second consecutive season. It was out of service between 2014-2015, due to increasing severity of mechanical problems between 2013-2014. I stood very close to where you were at Aizu-Wakamatsu, back in October 2015 to document it.

I also caught the "class sister" C57-1 in southwestern Japan, near Yamaguchi in May of this year.

Very interesting first video of the DE10 switching the "Shiki 800" Schnabel-like car. I believe there's a "dummy load" in the middle in place of a heavy weight load that would normally be there in revenue service. The locomotives in the background takes me back decades - DD51s, EF64s and EF65s, all from the 1960s and 1970s. I spotted one EF66 (newer -100 series) and one EF210, the only "modern" freight locomotive in the video I saw.

the freights come down from Kogota on the main line and run round to reach the short trip to the port here

each loco one in thhe older JR  livery and the other in the JRF livery
