International Railroad Discussion > Ireland Rail MuseumDate: 09/19/16 02:50 Ireland Rail Museum Author: filldiesel76 Hello everybody,
I will be five days in Dublin, and would like to know if there is a nice rail museum in Ireland. I have found one in West Clare, they have some rolling stock over there, and would like to know if you know more! Thank you in advance! Cheers Fill Date: 09/19/16 06:29 Re: Ireland Rail Museum Author: 86235 The main base of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland is at Whitehead in Co Antrim, on the north shore of Belfast Lough. http://www.steamtrainsireland.com/events/
The HQ of the Irish Railway Record Society are at Heuston station in Dublin http://www.irrs.ie/index.htm The Irish Traction Group own a number of historic diesel locomotives, which are at a number of locations around the country. http://www.irishtractiongroup.com/ You didn't say when you were going, but there are a number of forthcoming railtours - GNRI 3 cylinder compound no.85 Merlin is running Whitehead - Belfast - Dublin and return next Sunday and in October there's a diesel railtour with (presumably) restored IE 071 class leader 071.
