I hope Argentina can have better lucky with these engines than Brazil. fca railroad received tow units to test here in Brazil and they were scrapped less than three years later. The mechanics and electric components are not so good as everybody expect from chinese goods. So, after many disagreements with the factory, fca preferred to put them in scrap yards where they are until nowadays.

On another matter from last month, did the "...four FTL  SD18s..." get to their destination?

Chinese locos have given trouble in Cuba as well.

Yes, they did. The trucks ate coming back to get two SD38M to FTL.

The new Argentine units sound very similar mechnically to the Dalian-built Kiwi Rail DL class.  At least from what I've read, once they got through the initial quality issues and replaced some asbestos-contaminated soundproofing material, the DLs seem to be doing okay.

It has taken 5 years but the DLs performance seems to have settled down somewhat after quality control and design issues. Stripping and rebuilding to eliminate asbestos continues...
