Liz cement cars (Brazil)

Hi, some pics of the TPS class cars of Liz cement company (also known as SOICON group).
They are tank cars, not hoppers. That why the prefix T on them (Tps).

But in reality they are covered hoppers that use air to unload the car the same way an Air Flow Covered Hopper works.

PHall, you are very correct, they are NOT tank cars at all even though the pressure vessels are round. Its nothing more than a single pot pressure tank uplifted on each end.

Nice cars. Are they classified as tank or hoppers?

Good Morning Pedro,

Is the third rail a Brazilian version of a Jordan rail used on your Narrow Gauge
Lines or a third rail for standard gauge locomotives?

I wish our  Flammable Fluid Tank Cars were built like the cement cars you have they would be much stronger,
granted they would weigh more but the trade off for greater safety while transporting crude and other flammables
would be worth it in my opinion.

Hi leonz,

Brazil has two main gauges: 1600 and 1000 mm. Where both connects, we have the narrow inside the broad. Here in my are is an exemple of this, because we have MRS railroad with broad gauge and Vale mining and VLI with narrow gauge.

I agree with you about the cement cars resistance. They are very strong and use to be in shape after details and other accidents. It could be interesting if the FAA could built one tank like it to test with crude oil and check the resistance on fire during wrecking.
