Did the D&RGW run mixed gauge trains? How did they couple the cars together? Date: 01/26/17 16:26 Re: Big EMD's x Tiny GE's (Brazil) Author: pedrop It is more common to use a locomotive with different gauge of the cars. For exemple, a broad gauge loco pulling a narrow gauge train, or the opposite. We also have special cars to do this job. See pics attached.
1) fca (now VLI) use this special car to allow the broad gauge locomotives to pull narrow gauge trains in its system in Sao Paulo state; 2) fca also have cars with different trucks and couplers, like this GFD gondola that has a broad gauge truck in one end and a narrow gage truck in the other end; 3) Here it is a GFD gondola with dual gauge copuplers. This kind of cars use to have iron or stone ballast inside to be heavy. lynnpowell Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Pedro, do they run any trains with mixed narrow > gauge and standard gauge cars in the consist, like > the D&RGW used to do in Colorado USA? Here are more exemples of them:
1) a "maromba" car with trucks in different gauges; 2) old wheels used to ballast the "maromba" cars; 3) Two GFD gondolas of different gagesconnected in a limestone train. I assume they're part of this group of UP/CP/DRGW & etc.s http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?6,4011323,page=1 Ted in OR Date: 02/14/17 09:39 Re: Big EMD's x Tiny GE's (Brazil) Author: pedrop Hi, yes there is. Go to my website http://minasgeraisrailways.ning.com/ (members only) and search for the page LOCOMOTIVAS USADAS in de the main menu. There you will find a Excel document with almost all ex USA diesel found in Brazil nowadays.
