Temperatures in Kumamoto average 91 degrees F in the month of August. So I feel for those guys working in the summer heat and humidity. Hope you didn't sweat too many buckets while you were there.

JR Kyushu in recent years usually have their steam excursions originate and terminate in Kumamoto (8620 class (2-6-0) #58654). I mention it, since I suspect the turntable and some of the steam-related facilities are still there and used to this day.
