Just curious if anyone knows about an order for more SD70ACS locomotives for Saudi Arabia Railway (SAR)? There are currently two engines in the Norfolk Southern yard in Roanoke, VA and they have been there since last week when I first saw them. A bit of googling revealed that there have been a few units headed to Norfolk, VA here and there over the past ~8 months. The actual numbers on the units are all covered, but I could see that one is temporarily marked as EMDX 3006 (my search indicates the other unit is likely marked as EMDX 3009).

SRO number is 4318, so this block of a loco type unknown, follows on from the last GT46AC (numbered 4316)

This is unit 2034, the number is clear, said to be s/n 20148061-005 b/d 10/2016, EMDX number 3001
In the past, the 2000 block has been used for SD38 and NRE SD38 clones

So we have what looks from photos to be identicle locos, with the serial 20148061, allocated to 2 different number blocks!

If one was to Google "Atlantic Coast Line Productions", and bring up a clip Published on Jan 31, 2017 one will find shots of EMDX3001 and 3002
From Arabic numbers locos are 2034 and 2035

There were two orders for Saudi Arabia from EMD in 2016:
20148047 was for 36 SAR SD70ACS #4025-4060
20148061 was for 6 SRO SDL38 #2030-2035

Have photos of most of the SRO SDL38 up to 2027, then nothing till 2034/2035   

However if you go to this link http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?2,4161412,4170205#msg-4170205 there are 2 locos (EMDX 1000/1001) which appear identicle to SLD38 2034, with one (EMDX 1001) numbered 4318

Poses the question, 6 locos 2030-2035, plus a suplementary order for 4 units 4317-4320, or 6 units, with 20148061-001 to 004 renumbered at Muncie to 4317-4320?
EMDX 3000/3001 shipped in January 2017, EMDX 1000-1003 shipped October 2016
 

Thanks for the info! Would the two locomotives that I saw most likely be from this 2016 order, even though it's now 2017?

Finally got an answer to the conflicting numbers of the SDL38 order. Progress has posted a builders photos of the order! Units were SRO 4317-4322.
