Mexicali and Tijuana railfanning
Author: joelaveda

Wondered about railfanning these areas. Will be in S. Cal and would like to make my first trip south of the border.

Can anyone help with yard locations, accessibility, safety, and best times of days for good roster photography?

Thank you in advance,

Joe

It's funny that you mention that, VIA 1, Matt, and I (all from the Amtrak Board) were down there a week ago. The San Diego and Imperial Valley crosses right at the San Ysidro crossing. Your best bet is to take the trolley down from San Diego itself. As you come into the San Ysidro stop, you'll pass the SD&IV shops and there were 2 F-40s in there waiting to be painted or something like that. Hope this helps.
