------------------------------------------------------- > http://www.wpxi.com/news/news/national/enraged-haw > k-smashes-drone-ground/nhgGP/ A software engineer at Google said the hawk decided he wasn't happy with his drone invading the airspace and knocked it to the ground. Uh huh. While I won't dispute that statement, maybe the hawk was hungry? Couldn't get a good grab of the drone, or realized it wasn't edible, so it let it go, and the drone's overrated 3-axle gyro system couldn't handle it. :-) Well, had the Google engineer implanted something on the hawk to invade its privacy, we would have really believed it was "angry." I think I posted a link to a video of a police drone crashing after a mob threw things at it. Be careful out there. Date: 10/13/14 10:07 Re: Drone downed by angry hawk. Date: 10/14/14 07:52 Re: Drone downed by angry hawk. Author: chico Here in Madison, Wi., someone flew a quad copter over Camp Randall Stadium football crowd last Saturday, about 80,000. A direct violation of airspace rules, for these and other open air events there is a 4,000'/3 mi. radius (I think it is).
Yesterday in the local paper there was a story about how the authorities are trying to determine who it was that was flying it. http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/education/on_campus/uw-police-do-you-know-this-drone/article_43bb9c00-fd80-58fd-9301-e9e9060fa732.html Keeping it railroad on topic: the Iowa Pacific train came up from Chicago for the game. don't know if there was a connection. at any rate, Homeland Security eyebrows must have been raised by this breach. Implications for nefarious use of quad copters by the bad guys abound. chico Date: 10/29/14 15:37 Re: Drone downed by angry hawk. Author: BarrySr I'm relieved to know that it wasn't an angry David Hawkins.....
