Good rr display on Garmin GPS
Author: rhotond

Most of the garmin GPS's don't display railroads very well and then only in the 800 ft/cm scale and below.
New for 2014 is the 2559 (and subsets ie 25x9 that display railroads as a dark heavy line (no individual tracks) at scales much bigger than 800 ft/cm. Also map layers can be selected.

When you selected maps, did it demand you use a 4g SD disk since there wasn't enough space on the GPS itself ?

This unit contains all NA maps and all European maps, thus it has much more memory. The answer is NO. but it does have a slot for a 4 to 8 GB card that I have not used.

I have a Garmin Nuvi with free map upgrades for North America, but still no railroads on them. If there are maps out there with railroads, I don't get access to them.
