Need info on crossing bell
Author: dcfbalcoS1

I am needing to replace the electric bell on our G16 locomotive and have found nothing. Who knows where a 6" to 8" electric bell can be purchased that does NOT ring as fast as a machine gun or that can be slowed down and isn't exorbitantly priced?

What kind of voltage and current is available to operate the bell? AC? DC?
The post title mentions a crossing bell (as one would see in the company of
flashing lights on a stationary pole) but the text refers to a locomotive bell.
Which is it?

A picture or two and all the specifications you have would help.

Funny, just this morning I was thinking about some of the old towers that controlled crossing gates. Didn't some of them have a manually operated bell that was bell shaped rather than the round bells on automatic signals?

I realize that this is not what the original post was about, but thought someone might have some information.

Bell is on a 16" gauge locomotive, makes no difference where it comes from other than it has to work of 12 volts ( just like a car ). 6 to 8 " diameter bell housing and needs to operate slow like a locomotive bell instead of an alarm.
