What software is available to program the Yeasu 270-R for listening to rr frequencies?

RT Systems.  I've used their products for many years.

The kit is a CD and an USB-radio adaptor cable.  Typically,
the adaptor cable will work on several models of Yaesu radio
whereas the software CD is model specific.  You can use the
same software to program multiple '270 units.

First-rate software, top notch custsomer service, fair pricing.

I'd recommend A E S as a source for the software.  Ask for Matt Welch
and tell him K3HX from Burton recommended him.   800-321-3594

The RT Systems software produces an "Excel"-like spreadsheet and all you need do is
fill in the blanks.

A hint: Take a very fine "Sharpie" and write the serial number to the software
directly on the optical disc.   Store the disc in a thin "jewel box" rather than
the paper envelope.  Stick a label on the inside front cover of the "jewel box"
with the serial number in case the one on the CD becomes unreadable.

Some hints:
The software is designed so that amateur radio ops (hams) can use it for programming.
As such there are MANY options that are of no use to rail enthusiasts and some which
can render the unit silent.   Some things not to invoke: PL, DCS, Auto Repeat, Offset,
Code ID.  If you get stuck, not to worry....the folks at RT are familair with railfan usage
and will help.

Be Well,

Tim Colbert  K3HX

EDIT:  As far as I know, the software is Windows only.

'HAM Outlets Store' usually has them in stock as well, also a lot of other stuff.

I can't recommend RT Systems enough.  I also have the FT-270, as well as a Kenwood TM-281, and have the RT software for both.  Heck, I have never even learned detailed use of the units' respective buttons and menus.

OK.  One more vote for RT software.  I was reluctant to spend the money several years ago.   I thought I'd just spend the time programming over 100 frequencies into my new radio, the railroad and some ham frequencies.   After awhile I bit the bullet and got a package from RT haven't looked back.
