Railfan Technology > Internet speedDate: 08/05/15 16:38 Internet speed Author: SeaboardMan Finally getting out of the dark ages, vis a vis, Internet speed. Going to cable at 25 bps, dumping the phone company's 1-1.5 bps on a good day. Should be able to hit the arrow on videos here and actually see them in real time. Wheee!
john just notice I forgot the 'm' befor bps. Fingers going faster already, lol. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/06/15 08:30 by SeaboardMan. Date: 08/05/15 22:14 Re: Internet speed Author: wa4umr Don't expect it to be instant but it will be quite a bit faster.

I'm stuck with DSL and have no other options. My building is wired for The Phone Company, and I'd violate HOA rules if I even try to get something else. I'd about kill to get 1 gig service, particularly since I work from home much of the time, and do a lot of web conferencing. I know from having it in the office that it can really make a difference. The Phone Company says it's coming. My neighbors and I keep asking when. No answer. Probably in the next century at their usual glacial pace.... Why do you think it is called America Off Line? Date: 08/25/15 08:34 Re: Internet speed Author: sptno Many years ago when the family shared a single computer in the den/dinning room and had AOL, my wife was using the computer, got frustrated and said when are you going to do something about this slow computer.
That meant that I had an open checkbook to upgrade the system. Upgraded our OS, went from dial up to DSL and never looked back. About 2 years ago went to Time Warner cable internet because AT&T could not get Uverse to work. Now we have 200M down, 20 up and wife is happy with the speed. Stay with Windows 7 Pro as no real need to switch at this time. Pat South Austin, TX |
