When and where snow squalls persist...
Author: Forever-Railfan-45

driving and just being outside can be dangerous. BUT the opporunity to take pictures of trains in the snow can be rewarding. Good friend of mine, Rob, and I went to Greenwich,Ohio originally but then rerouted when we heard the W&LE picking up a train off of Yeoman's siding close to Bellevue. I informed Rob those trains usually go to the Sunrise Cooperative grain elevator at Clarksfield, Ohio to load. So we went on a little cruise; first one is at Wellingon, Ohio where the NS 6970 is leading empty grain cars dropped off by the NS heading to Sunrise, second picture is of two short trains at W&LE's Harrtland Yard, and number three is of the empty grain train passing thru the elevators at Sunrise COOP where the engine will run around the train once dropping off the cars...

we then headed back to Bellevue as we noticed the Wabash Heritage locomotive was leading an unknown train east thru Fostoria at 1250. Called a friend of mine and he informed me it was leading a 218; hot intermodal destined for North Carolina.  Pictures number four and five are at the Route 18 crossing during an intense snow squall where this train was waiting for a recrew which showed up five minutes later hence picture number six is at Kenny Road in Bellevue; where the snow squall stopped momentarily...

Picture number seven is of the NS 218 shortly after we got it at Kenny Road during an intense snow squall. Numbers eight and nine are of some new power on the Wheeling and Lake Erie at hartland Yard...

Number ten is of the switcher at Sunrise COOP positioning cars for loading with grain, number eleven is of the power that is waiting on the grains cars to be loaded.  Gives you some perspective on how big this facility really is and number twelve is picture of the SD70 standard cab which will lead the loads out once done...

And probably the best catch of the day was this Wheeling and Lake Erie train that we saw off of Quarry Road waiting on a crew as another intense snow squall starts up.  Have a good Thursday all....

Second that motion!! Terrific shots of one of the best paint schemes ever. Does anything look as good slicing through a snow squall as Wabash blue, white and grey? Congrats on IOTD! You can't go wrong when you Follow the Flag!
