Western Railroad Discussion > Dashing through the snowDate: 02/13/16 12:45 Dashing through the snow Author: SD45X Back on the fourth, the Kyle RR was to run a plow train. Turned out they neglected the plow. Anyhow, I was headed out of town when I got the call and prompty turned around and headed to Kansas. Worth the trip:)
East of Goodland,KS I came upon the eastbound train after getting a relief crew at Dresden. The previous crew had cut off and ran ahead five miles cleaning out the cut ahead. Here the train passes through the mess. Farther along on the west side of Clayton the drifts showed up. They would put their train away here and run light the rest of the way to Phillipsburg as there were bigger drifts to come.
Nearing Almena,KS. Date: 02/13/16 12:55 Re: Dashing through the snow Author: SD45X Between Almena and Prarie View there isn't much access as the roads weren't plowed. But we got lucky with one passable.
After they made Pburg we headed west and camped at Goodland to see if we could catch the Limon side train somewhere. We did. Vona,CO. Parked, waiting for a rested crew. And that wouldn't show till dark:( Enjoy. Date: 02/13/16 13:04 Re: Dashing through the snow Author: irhoghead Awesome set of photos! You done did good. Thanks for sharing.
