Steam & Excursion > A Lima and an AuburnDate: 09/20/16 06:33 A Lima and an Auburn Author: OC6325 On saturday September 17th, we decided to get some stock material for the FWRHS while we had the engine renumbered. The Auburn completes the scene.

Bob Date: 09/20/16 08:32 Re: A Lima and an Auburn Author: Rich_Melvin See what happens when we get the engine up to 88 mph?

Date: 09/20/16 09:56 Re: A Lima and an Auburn Author: NKP779 What is the year and the model of the Auburn (which were made in Auburn, Indiana - about 20 miles north of Fort Wayne)?
Date: 09/20/16 10:40 Re: A Lima and an Auburn Author: OC6325 It actually a replica of a 1936 boattail speedster. If you had a real one, it's worth so much money you probably wouldn't drive it.

Obviously not a contender for membership in the ACD club! (Auburn Cord Dusenberg) Date: 09/21/16 05:38 Re: A Lima and an Auburn Author: dpudave What, no complaints about "all" the white paint? I miss that drum beat. Maybe the Mars light stifles the critics. Really like the photo. Olds or not, that's a cool car, and what a loco. d

(Auburn Cord Dusenberg) Actually, the replica Auburns do have a loyal following in the ACD club. They are referred to as "second generation" cars. And, I think such owners can be members of the club. Date: 09/21/16 11:27 Re: A Lima and an Auburn Author: Rich_Melvin I had a chance to examine that Auburn up close. Replica or not, it is absolutely stunning.

So, 88 wouldn't be much of a stretch. We were hitting a milepost about every 45 seconds. There wasn't much of the choo choo sound, more of a constatnt hiss almost. We were traveling fron Lexington, Ky to Danville, Ky. John Date: 09/22/16 16:35 Re: A Lima and an Auburn Author: flyingfred If that were a picture of a model train layout, I would put the 767 at "O" gauge size and the Auburn as "HO" gauge size. They for some reason just look out of proportion to each other :) Like they say " truth can be stranger than fiction".
