November catch-up in 4 states!
Author: Railfan94

While I didn't get out quite as much as I wanted to for the best fall foliage in my area, the quality of trains I shot more than made up for it!

A pretty slow start to the month, and my first train shot was November 6th. Seen here at Ruther Glen on the first day of the time change, P066 heads north with a 270 second exposure with the old RF&P Signals.
Later that night, I got word that P097 featured the pair that's still roaming the system after nearly 2 months from the Autumn Excursions; the P40DC #822 in PhIII and P42 #42 'Veterans' unit.
As you can see, November 7th in Frederickburg still had right much green. P067 is seen passing Mead's Pyramid in the Spotslyvania Battlefield Park at 'Hamilton'.

This was by far the best shot I've ever captured in Richmond! As a loaded grain train, and a loaded coal sit at 'Pumphose' waiting on new crews, manifest train Q415 sails overhead on the A-Line with an SD60I and D9-40CW for power.
Not long after the previous shot, trains started rolling in and out of Fulton yard, Seen here, one of the loaded coal trains heads for the yard as a 150 car empty heads west behind a pair of SD70AC's.
Under the cover of darkness, a loaded grain train heads up the hill at Hermitage road with CW46AH #648 leading the way.

Thanks to a timely heads up, a couple of buddies and I were able to track down and chase this beauty from Petersburg to Crewe on the 13th. Hopper train 823 heads west, seen here at MP 104.5 with SD70 #2503 leading.
823 sweeping the curve at Blackstone in the beautiful afternoon light.
Back at Collier for a while in the evening, Q415 headed out of the yard with a Sweet EMD pair; SD70ACe leading an SD60I.

What was supposed to be a chase of NS 290 with the New York Central leading turned into a nice 60 mile chase of CSX 7392 west on the Buckingham Branch. Seen here at Gordonsville, the D8-40CW rolls across the East Street Crossing.
Two more shots of the chase, first at Jarmans Gap; second at Afton. As you can see, the lack of weather (wind and rain) led to there still being right much color on the mountain!

November 15th see TGT W001 making moves north in Fredericksburg after laying over here the night before.
And that day was an absolute disaster. Q401 had engine issues while blocking the major interlocking at Crossroads, thus shutting down the railroad for over 6 hours. Seen here getting a fresh crew at Leland, Q141 is about to take off as VRE train P309 passes on the opposite track.
With a 3 1/2 hour late Silver Meteor, the same pair finally made a daylight appearance on the RF&P; and the River cooperated perfectly!!!

November 18th saw a day trip to the Pittsburgh line before a week long vacation to West Virginia (no, not for trains unfortunately!). This was the second train we shot; NS 64E with a sweet SD40-2 leader, leslie RS3L still in perfect tune!
Almost 2 hours later, 64E scoots by the Harrisburg transportation center.
Now, over a week later on November 26th, we're back on the Norfolk District, seen here at Nottaway Courthouse. NS 23Q baretable train heads west out of the morning sun with yet another SD70 leader, this one #2524.

After arriving in Crewe, we heard 22A leaving, so we shot him in Burkeville.
And once back at Collier, we headed south..... wayyyyyyy south! First stop was Jarratt after hearing G645 with SD50-2 #8591 leading!
The furthest south we went was here; Weldon, NC. Amtrak P080 heads north across the 4,000 foot long Roanoke River bridge as the last of fall hangs on.

A very nice looking Q401 rolls through Stony Creek, VA with CW46AH #641 leading. Of Note are two Ex NJT F40PH's heading to the Grand Canyon Railroad.
And now to the last day; November 27th. Headed to the Northeast Corridor for some awesome holiday rush action. One of the first trains we shot with B804, seen here heading up to Popes Creek with a couple of GEVO's on the head, and a GEVO-AC44 on the rear.
One of the many Acela's to run throughout the day; #2205 heads south through Seabrook.

By far the coolest shot I've ever taken in 6 years! At 1/8th of a second, Amtrak holiday extra #1141 rolls by the Seabrook station at ~120mph as a small crowd has gathered.
Not many took shots because of the harsh light, but I love it! A northbound Acela rolls out of the late evening setting sun.
And a nice way to finish the post; one of the two leased sets of NJT Equipment to handle the holiday rush. This one running as Extra #1057 rolls through Seabrook as the sun begins to set.

Great series of photos. That shot at the ACL bridge is wild. I went to that spot money times, sometimes for hours, and occasionally I saw a tied down train on one main. When I first looked, I was amazed you got the three together, but seeing that both were waiting for crews was a real surprise. Brown's Island was (is?) the standard recrew point when I used to live in the area, and assuming that is the case, would two dead trains at Pump House mean two more dead trains at Browns Island? Since when do that many eastbounds accumulate on that line! I was also surprised you got an empty coal headed west on the Rivanna Sub.

Great bunch of photos.  The Richmond and Jarmans Gap shots are my favorites of the bunch.

Great images. There are so many that are well done, but number two is magazine "centerspread" quality.

I think that IOTD is too limiting with this batch of photos, should be more like Images of the Week!

A ton of home runs in this thread! Congratulations on the IOTD photo. The coolest shot at Seabrook station belongs on a poster/ calendar. Great images.
