Eastern Railroad Discussion > CVSR 6777, 6771 - Matched MLW FPA-4 LocomotivesDate: 01/21/17 10:52 CVSR 6777, 6771 - Matched MLW FPA-4 Locomotives Author: refarkas The CVSR opened its 2017 season with matched MLW FPA4's on the southbound end of the train. Here are CVSR 6777, 6771 at Akron Northside Station on January 21, 2017.
I included only these photos as they earlier parked the locomotives in the shadows. Bob Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 01/21/17 10:55 by refarkas. I know that one of them was previously painted for the B&O, but wasn't really accurate in the colors or the history. Still, I wish I could have seen it. I'm a sucker for B&O blue and gray.

Here's 6777 in June 1985. It has just brought VIA's eastbound Atlantic across the United States and is stopped for a Canadian Customs inspection and servicing at McAdam, New Brunswick. > I believe WMS 305 is now B&O 800 on the CVSR. Western Maryland Scenic had two FPA4's, ex-CN/VIA 6771 and 6780. They painted 6771 as "WM 305" in the solid black "fireball" paint scheme and 6780 as "B&O 800" in blue and gray. Both units eventually found their way to the Cuyahoga Valley in Ohio. "WM 305" arrived first back in 1993, at a time when the CVSR was called the Cuyahoga Valley Line and was using a D&H-inspired paint scheme. CVL repainted the unit in D&H-style blue and silver warbonnet and renumbered it 15. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1567888 In 1994 the line leased and then acquired George Hockaday's FPA4 (ex-CN/VIA 6777), which was already painted in the same D&H-style scheme. It was given the number 14. In 1995, the tourist line changed its name to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and changed its paint scheme to the now-familiar black/red/yellow. The FPA4's were quickly repainted but kept the numbers 14 and 15 until about 2002, when they returned to their old CN/VIA road numbers, 6777 and 6771 respectively. As for "B&O 800," after leaving Western Maryland Scenic, it did some time on the Northern Central Railway's dinner train in Pennsylvania until that operation folded in 2001. It moved on to the CVSR but hasn't changed identities or paint schemes yet. m1bprr Wrote: > The FA1, and 2's plus the FPA's always a class > act of the "Covered Wagons". ...just for reference, which covered wagons were not class acts? I certainly appreciate this.
