Eastern Railroad Discussion > Chasing Signals...Date: 02/20/17 08:59 Chasing Signals... Author: CGTower For the lover of classic signals the recent years have been difficult. The days of being able to recognize the lineage of a line are quickly dwindling. As more and more signals are being homgonized into the ubitquious color light signal, a railroads unique and historic character is quickly disappearing. To that end, it is one of the reasons we try to shoot as many photos incorporationg these icons as we can.
For Ohio, February usually brings snow, but, this year we've been relatively snow free. In fact, the warmth is more typical of early April. Wanting to take advantage of this, we head out trackside to some familiar haunts. Photo 1: W274 swings off the B&O and onto the C&O at Fostoria, Ohio. Looming in the fog is the massive three track C&O cantilever signal. Photo 2: North of Fostoria, we catch Q241 roaring under a C&O signal bridge. Photo 3: The traffic at Fostoria allowed us to catch up to Q241 at the "88" Crossovers. Date: 02/20/17 09:01 Re: Chasing Signals... Author: CGTower We decide with such nice power we'd follow Q241 to Deshler. Our last shot is at South Deshler in now full sun...coming through the interlocking and past the B&O color position light signals...
Thanks for chasing signals with us... CG Tower Date: 02/20/17 09:56 Re: Chasing Signals... Author: z-trains Huh, I saw that train switching out Walbridge when I got to Toledo around 07:30 yesterday but didn't think it'd go out. Kinda bummed I went down to Deshler and completely missed it, then!

Date: 02/20/17 12:51 Re: Chasing Signals... Author: intermodalres Great pictures! Those lines have the best signals. I just wish I had paid more attention to them 30 years ago when I was first out there taking pictures.

Larry Date: 02/20/17 19:57 Re: Chasing Signals... Author: Rathole You did well! I too hate to see the loss of identity we now have with the changes in signals and the structures that held them.
