Brush Sub (CO) this week
Author: skyview

With abundant sunflowers blooming, and smokey skies resulting in orange sunset, I took the oppurtunity to head out to Roggen, CO, on the BNSF Brush Sub.  These 3 shortly before sunset of eb BNSF coal empty, with the BNSF 9183 leading.

Earlier, before the sunset shots (that were the reason I was there), several westbounds came.  The first westbound coal load had BNSF 8770 leading, and DPU BNSF 8572 shoving.  BNSF 9147 led another coal load west.

Next, BNSF 5728 leads a coal load west with the 3rd westbound.
Finally, the Z train, which typically runs late after noon, was led by BNSF 8468.

All shots on Aug 13, 2018, at Roggen, CO

Great pics, great use of light, and GREAT way to make something out of nothing!  You're the first photographer I've seen to make Roggen, which on a scale of 1-10 rates a -200, look good.  Excellent work and congrats on the IOTD!

Jerry - I guess you won't be applying for Executive Director of the Roggen Chamber of Commerce.

Nice location-scouting, congrats on IOTD.

Nice work making Roggen, Colorado the center of the RR photograhy world, for the day anyways.

Slam-dunk awesome series! That 2nd coal train/sag shot is good enough for another IOTD in my book...

Nah, I want to be mayor of Keenesburg!  In 1984 I photographed an Amarillo coal empty rolling by the town's sign, which amused Phyllis and I then, and continues to bring a smile to my face every time I recall that fun afternoon with my bride.
