1) The former Western Maryland Railway's Thomas Sub has been busy this week. Another T051 with loads for the Mt. Storm Power Station is shoving west under the Mountain  Sub mainline at Beryl, WV. There was a set of empties coming west right behind the T051 as they departed Keyser, WV and I had hoped for a "Over / Under"... but the emptyman wouldn't show up until the drag was well out of sight......

2) U051-06, a set of empties from Mt Storm head west for Grafton, WV. only hours before these empties came east on the tracks below.

3) Waiting for their date... A Slug Set and cars from both the B772 and B770 wait on the eastbound siding at Keyser, WV. They will be picked up in the morning by Q316 and taken to Cumberland, MD.

1) B772-10 westbound on 17-Mile Grade at Bloomington, MD. B772 runs between Keyser and Grafton, WV with cars from Q316/Q317 that have to reduce tonnage between those points to make it over the mountain without a helper.

2) Nothing better to do, and the prospect of improving weather, We chase the B772 west..... B772-10 westbound at Swanton, MD.

3) Near prefect light........ B772-10 westbound at Mountain Lake Park, MD. Before his arrival, we were picking up Q316 calling signals coming east and hoped for a meet here... but no dice.

1) Q316-08 eastbound at Mountain Lake Park....

2) At Swanton, MD... The lighting sucks but the Leader warrants an attempt...... Q316-08 eastbound.

3) Q316-08 waits at Piedmont, WV as the B877-09 leads another (4th. train this week) set of  loads for the Mt. Storm Power Station. The drag was in the east yard at Keyser and is crossing from Track #2 over track #1 onto the Interchange Track at Piedmont.

Thank You for stopping by and having a look.....

What a great week--this is a terrifc series of photos. You managed to nab some very decent fall color, a nice mix of trains, at different locations, under a variety of weather/lighting conditions. KCS units were a nice surprise, too.
Well done, sir!
[And don't get me started on the thorough captioning.]

For over 10 years I worked for a Newspaper Managing Editor who belived if he sent a Photographer to cover an event, Said Photographer better come up with images regradless of situation / weather / or conditions.... and unless it was a "Chicken Dinner / Grip & Grin"  style photo, there best not be any flash used............ So in other words you learned to push film, shoot available light, and own the fastest glass you could afford....

Tri-X pushed to 3200 and a hot developer.... with film grain that size you didn't need a half-tone screen......

Great pictures, even if that 450 is one of the ugliest engines I've ever seen. The CSX Squarecabs actually look better now.
