Lots of snow on the D&S

Here are three more pix from last weekend's winter specials on the D&S.  Saturday and Sunday were  perfect days for winter photography with a mix of snow and sun, except a slide north of Tall Timber prevented trains from getting to Cascade to turn. Then a lot more snow started falling Sunday night, and Monday morning the D&S had to run a flanger extra to clear the way for the SP 18 and the Goose.  The D&S put in a lot of extra effort to make things happen for the assembled fans.  But it turned into a great weekend with some unusual photo ops.  The first image is Saturdays passenger train with the 18.  The next two are the flanger extra run Monday morning.

Great stuff! Glad to see the 'Desert Princess' running. Who'd a thought years ago, she'd be running like this ever.

I just wondered, when the D&S is finished using # 18,  is there any chance the 18 might pay a visit the Cumbres & Toltec before returning to California?

If you want to see the 18 I would head for Durango.
