My Oddity picture post
Author: Spinner

I posted this a while ago but took it down because I was fearful that it was a family of a train crew. I found out later that they had no affiliation with the RR. They were just out enjoying some nice winter sun.

So her ya go!!!!

Taken at the SLO (San Luis Obispo, CA) Amtrak station where the SLO helpers are located to help freights on Cuesta.

Interesting light package that (ex)SP unit has. Was that original equipment?

Just kidding... before I scrolled down and saw the kids, I thought perhaps that was the oddity.

We already covered this the first time, IT AINT"T PHOTOSHOPPED!

Look at the shadows cast down on the side of the nose, look at the fold over blanket, the unchopped outline of their heads against the numberboard/headlight backdrop. There are no signs of Photoshop. This pic simply captures a weird central Cali coast hippie family enjpyinh a picnic on the nose of a patched ex-SP SD40M-2 (good loco to choose!)

Thanks for backing me up Espeeboy. NO PS was used. I know I know Its just an amazing shot!!!

As for the staffing, Amtrak seems to care less, this was a sunday mid morning, no UP crews around as most trains come in after #11/#14.

Here is another shot. Family saw me but did not care.
