little known fact
Author: WrongWayMurphy

While these are indeed a novelty (I have a neighbor here
in Argyle that has camels and llamas) back in the mid 1800's in
dusty dry West Texas the US Army, while fighting the indians,
imported camels as an experiment to see if they made better pack
animals than horses and mules. They were a part of the Army for
about 10 years until the railroad finally came.

Didn't walk a mile but drove 1000's of miles over 2 decades, driving between wife's family in Iowa Park, Tx and first the DFW area and for past 11 years just North of Houston where we now live, before they gave this opportunity. Location is on US HWY 287.
