Western Railroad Discussion > Great scenery ...trains too

As I wasn't ready to deal with any snow this early, my trip to Montana took an abrupt turn southward. Ending up in Colorado and Utah, I checked out a few favorite spots yesterday in great weather.

1. An on-time Amtrak California Zephyr rolls eastward along the Colorado River at Burns, Colorado.
2. Westbound Union Pacific coal train in late afternoon light at Desert, Utah.

Both very nice. I don't think I've seen that Burns shot from that perspective.

Nice photos especially number 2. Those cliffs are beautiful in the afternoon light. I've enjoyed them from both track side and in the lounge car on number 5 with an ice cold adult beverage.
