CN Rail Plans Clearwater Sub Outage for Weekend

CN Rail has scheduled a planned 30-hour major maintenance program this weekend at mile 59.9 on the Clearwater Subdivision, between Jasper, AB and Kamloops, BC, in order to replace decking on a key bridge over the Thompson River.

As a result of this maintenance, the affected segment of the Clearwater subdivision will be closed between Saturday, March 18 at 22:00 PST and Monday, March 20 at 04:00 PST.

CN has been working diligently to minimize impact to traffic scheduled to move through the affected area and has made every effort to reduce any delays or traffic buildups that may occur. Customers should however expect that traffic running between Edmonton and Vancouver in either direction will be delayed by up to 30 hours during the maintenance program.

In order to further minimize delays, CN will divert several trains that are regularly scheduled to run between Prince George, BC and Vancouver along the Clearwater subdivision. These trains will now run along the former BC Rail line during the maintenance program.

The Clearwater Subdivision is scheduled to reopen on Monday morning, March 20 at 04:00 PST.
