Norfolk Southern reports that a train derailment in Oakdale, Tennessee at 21:30 EST on May 26, is resulting in traffic delays through Sunday morning.

According to reports, NS train 223 experienced an undesired emergency brake application and upon inspection of the train discovered that at least a dozen cars had derailed in a zig-zag manner. There were no reports of hazardous materials involved and no injuries reported from the mishap.

The derailment blocked Norfolk Southern\'s route between Chattanooga, TN and Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as other points to the north that included Louisville, Kentucky.

Emergency crews and contracted derailment services crews arrived on the scene early Saturday morning and have been working through Sunday morning to restore service to the route.
