I am currently on a one man mission to save what is left of the railway corridor that ran between Vernon BC and Kelowna BC. It has now been lifted and the "Rail Trail" group is in planning to convert the corridor to a trail but there is a lot of mixed controversy over highway congestion and car dependency here and businesses that were abandoned by CN when they decided to close the line. So I hope that something changes and someone will at least research the possibilities of putting in a new rail line to serve both freight and passenger needs in the valley. |
