Interests:	I've worked in the rail industry since 1970, including stints with B&M (yard clerk), Soo Line (trainmaster and terminal supt.), U.S. Railway Association (Conrail studies), CSX (market research) and SP (marketing services). Since 1997 I've been a freelance consultant and writer. From 1997 through 2009, I did a quarterly newsletter, Rail StockWatch, that covered the rail industry from a financial perspective. I have also done articles for Trains Magazine on various subjects such as manned helpers versus DPU operations, the role of TTX in the rail industry, intermodal economics, the freight car manufacturing and leasing business, and rail manufacturing. I've done six books for the MBI/Quayside series Railroad Color History, including volumes on Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, Chicago & North Western, Illinois Central, Milwaukee Road and Southern Railway. The CN and CP volumes were reissued as a single paperback volume titled Rails Across Canada in 2011.
