Western Railroad Discussion > Interesting UP LocalDate: 01/11/06 17:59 Interesting UP Local Author: stevelv UPs BMI local from Arden yard to Henderson, NV had a nice surprise today with a GTW SD40 in the consist. I caught the train as it was leaving on its return trip to Arden during a not so common cloudy afternoon in the Vegas Valley. Since there are no turning facilities at the end of the branch, the GTW unit must have led coming east during the day. Were you out NscaleMike?

That may have been the same GT unit that went south on a QRVML or QRVDO on Sunday down the coast. There probably aren't more than a few left in that scheme and probably not more than one out on the west coast. You never know what old UP is up to these days. These shots look like a typical winter day in the Northeast, not sunny Vegas!! Anybody know of a list kicking around that has the remaining unretouched GT and DWP units? Date: 01/12/06 12:49 Re: Interesting UP Local Author: NscaleMike Hey Steve, just found out the ol' GTW unit was on the 48. I ran down there...but it must have split off from the other two locomotives, to head up to Berry Plastics. Only the ex-SP T-motor and a UP SD40-2 were sitting down in the Henderson mini yard. I will have to see if I can catch it tomorrow.
