Got lucky enough to catch the only remaining at the time CNW SD60 #8052 pull its last train through Arkansas on its way to retirement on 11-25-01. I think 1 day after these were taken it was interchanged with the CN at Memphis to be stored. So say farewell as she pulls her last train, the YNL71 through Pine Bluff heading for Little Rock. The first one is as it is leaving the south end of the yard, passing the runthrough BNSF train.

Not a very good roster shot, but the sun was on the other side and I didnt want to get blocked so I could chase it downtown.

Here it is peeping into the sun as it creeps up to get a signal at Missouri street, still in Pine Bluff. I dont know why the color came out so bad on these. They looked great on slide.

Last but not least, my last picture of the 8052 ever in CNW paint. Leaving Pine Bluff, I had to fly to get this shot as he sped up through town. I ran up an embankment to get to this over pass just as he passed over. Sometimes you get lucky and get a good catch like this one. Just wouldn't have been the same if it wasnt on the point of the train. Farewell 8052..........

CNW 8052 came into Memphis on the MNLMED 26. It left that evening on M34971 26 & was setout at Fulton. It was delivered the next afternoon to VMV at Paducah, KY for storage.

I was surprised to see it last to the end. Figured at some point it would be painted or patched, however, that day never came.

The 8052 had always been my favorite CNW SD60, even before the UP merger. I'm glad it out lasted UP's paint shop. It makes me very sad to see it pulled from service though. I miss it.

The 15 year lease by the CNW on these 55 SD60s helps prove the old adage: C&NW really means Cheap and Nothing Wasted!
