Not a stupid question, I bet these are never ever allowed in th republic of California (just kidding). It's for moving spent nuclear fuel rods. Though they're spent they are plenty warm...if you look close you can see the nuke warning symbol.

Mojo is the man!

As far as I know, these are used to transport spent fuel rods from Submarines based at Bangor Navel Station in Washington State. It was empty when I saw it.

the car dosen,t look properly haz mat marked and isn,t accompanied as it supposed to be by fed regulations if you are correct

It's probably empty. I think that they usually ship as their own short train, with all DOD/DOE cars when loaded.

They ship Radio Active Waste in those cars from the East coast and they come down the KP Line right past my place. Seen them many a time. Biggest train I seen of them was 3 of these cars and 3 of the casks sitting in a depressed center flatcar with a switch in a gon. car and another load that was tarped and a caboose on the rear. upkpfan
