BNSF's Northern Transcon Line Q?
Author: zwspnby9

Hey,

I was wondering what the exact route of BNSF's northern transcon line between Chicago and Seattle/Portland,OR actually goes?
Also, does the line go through Minot or Fargo,ND? What is the train traffic like on this line these days?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks.
Andy

Chicago-Aurora-Rochelle-Savanna-LaCrosse-St. Paul-via former NP to Northtown-St. Cloud-Detroit Lakes-Fargo-Casselton-New Rockford-Minot-Williston-Glasgow-Havre-Shelby-Essex (Marias Pass)-Whitefish-Libby-Bonners Ferry-Sandpoint-Athol-Rathdrum-Spokane-

The Seattle side goes Spokane-Wenatchee-Everett-Seattle.

The Portland leg goes Spokane-Ritzville-Pasco-Wishram-Vancouver WA-Portland

I think roughly 30 trains per day on the part across Montana, maybe someone has a better number.

Yes, via the Surrey Cutoff and not the line via Grand Forks used by Amtrak.
