Western Railroad Discussion > TVRHA to acquire dieselDate: 05/20/02 07:22 TVRHA to acquire diesel Author: tvrha The Trinity Valley Railroad Historical Association, Fort Worth, Texas (website at http://members.trainorders.com/tvrha/Tvrha.htm) is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting public interest in the railroading industry through the collection and preservation of historic artifacts, rolling-stock, and locomotives; and through the preservation of local and regional railroad history.
TVRHA is set to acquire an Alco Century 424 diesel roadswitcher from Denver-based Omnitrax Corporation, one of the nation's largest railroad shortline holding firms. The unit is slated for donation from Omnitrax's Carleton Lakes Railway subsidiary in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada. TVRHA is raising monies to transport the locomotive to Fort Worth. You can help us by sending a contribution to TVRHA at P.O. Box 6743, Ft. Worth, TX 76115-0743 (payable to Trinity Valley Railroad Historical Association--please write "Century Fund" on checks/money orders). You may also print out and fill in the special Century 424 transportation fund section on our Membership Form (webpage at http://members.trainorders.com/tvrha/Mem-appl.htm), and mail it in with your contribution. All contributors will be specially recognized in connection with this effort. --George Jenista, TVRHA Date: 05/20/02 09:12 Re: TVRHA to acquire diesel Author: Larry576 Is this a former Belt Railway of Chicago unit? I hope it is.

I can understand a C424 fits into the first part of this, but what does a C424--about as un-Texas a locomotive as you can imagine--have to do with local and regional railroad history? Hope they can horsetrade it to someone who has an old Katy, T&P or Frisco engine. . . palmeister |
