A beautiful day after the rain in Southern California with nice blue skies.

1) The Coast Starlight

2) The Second Engine on the Starlight

3) And to my surprise former ATSF 503 Parlor Car.

4) Just passing the Trainorder pole.

5) Another Shot.

6) Close up of the lead engine.

7) The oil cans.

8) Looks like trouble.

9) Just 30 minutes after a second set heads north with a SD70ACe, but a cloud came just over.

Nice pics, Santi.

Do you guys at the depot ever worry that some newbie UP, Metrolink, or Amtrak engineer is going to think that the train order signal is meant for them? <G>

Say Hi to espeejimmy for me,

Rich

Hi Rich,

We spoke to Metrolink and UP and their comment was if a train stops for the Trainorder pole they are going to be in big trouble. LOL.

Cheers!

99% of the engineers wouldn't know what it meant AND if they got a TO, would not know what it meant:)

Hey, don't flame me, I was just trying to be, well, uh, heck, go ahead.

The oil cans pulled apart at Elwood this morning. Broken knuckle? Only few drops of oil leaked from that hose. That oil is very thick, like a gel. Have to run steam through the tanks to heat the oil to get it out at the refinery. Was talking about setting those two strings out at oxnard, then DS73 told them to keep going.

This definitely was your day to be out and about. Gotta love that seamaphore as well.

Paul....
Several years ago ( maybe 20 or so) I had the loaded oil out of Bakersfield. On the way up the hill we broke in two. What a mess! There was oil ALL OVER the place. That stuff may be sorta thick, but when you break in two it usually flows out pretty good. By the time we changed out the knuckle and got put back together, we had enough time to make Mojave and and were relieved there. Thank goodness for that, as I had about as much oil on me and my clothes for about 50 oil changes in my car. The Dispr ( I believe it was Chavez) thankfully sent us back to Bakersfield.

I was working the Coast Starlight, and the ATSF503 was dead haeding back to okj. It was on the Pacific Surfliner to San Diego the day before. It was a great trip up from LAUS, hope todays trip south will be as good.

Is something wrong with my computer? I don't see any photos. They are gone.
