Author: hotrail Can someone help me understand exactly where in SB this is? I never saw the yard office, crew change point, etc. back then. If I understand, this train is eastbound, approaching the passenger depot, but has he come up the main along the B yard, or is he on the "short way" as they often call it on the radio, which the passenger trains generally use. I assume that the track exiting the pic to the upper right would be toward Pasadena. Finally, what were the tracks cross on the diamond there, running out the left of the pic behind the office?
Thanks for any info and for posting an interesting pic! Date: 08/11/02 11:08 Re: ...speaking of Super C.... Author: microscale This photo was taken from the Mt Vernon overpass, looking west. The "Super C" is indeed taking the passenger shortcut, and the tracks that cross it headed over toward the depot, where there was a heavyweight passenger car parked for years, and pig flats, as I recall, could be unloaded at a ramp.
It's been longer than I thought ... my memory is getting a bit foggy on some of the details of those tracks that cross... Date: 08/11/02 12:35 Re: ...speaking of Super C.... Author: THOROUGHBRED Wow! has it really been that long. Oh the memories! Those truly were the god old days.

Oh well, good photo though, 26 years already. Doug Forness Date: 08/11/02 14:19 Re: ...speaking of Super C.... Author: atsf4life WOW, do I feel old! On the other side of the coin, I go to San Bernardino now to watch trains and it's so different. Nothing is the same. My shot is, indeed, looking west from Mt. Vernon Ave. viaduct and, yes, Super C is comming off the "Short Way", also known as the UP Main. Also, they're making a crew change on the move (no stopping).
