Isn't this contest incredible...

I want to thank all of the photographers that have posted entries thus far. It is so nice to see something other than the predominant oblique locomotive image. You guys are submitting outstanding and original work. Keep up the good work.

I agree! It's amazing how many great photographers there are in this hobby, and a contest like this consolidates their best work in one place and a short time span. Thanks to all who participate. Now we all get to eagerly await the results of the judging.

Sorry, I don't subscribe to to.com for the contest. It clogs up the boards.

Don't mean to be a thorn in the side of anyone, I'll just wait for it to be over..

(I don't come here for the photography, great as it may be)

Enjoy yourselves,
Chico

Thank you, "Chico", I agree. I'd much rather have some good discussion than look at lots or "pretty pictures" but in a democracy I lose - oh well.

Hmmm ... interesting comment.
I joined because of the photos (not the contest, that came later).
I don't get out to do as much railfanning as I would like to, and around here the choices are CN, CP, Via and GO Transit. It is nice to see shots of the various US railroads, large and small.
But I really do appreciate the attitude you have expressed -- willing to sit it out and wait for it to be over - and not compain.
That sir, makes you a gentleman and a scholar!
Will

Hey, guys follow the International board, only one entry. LOL

Seriously I have misgivings about the contest(ie as a contest) but it is only one week
and I enter.
As far as the news, 80% is far off and only moderately interesting anyway.
Wow, another detour, very exciting.

Sorry Ray,

I normally enjoy the photos here....along with the good discussion. But with the contests it is hard to wade thru all the photos to get to those discussions. I have all but stopped opening the threads to find discussions. I will wait until the contest is over to visit more. Great photos to those that have posted!

I always enjoy the contests. It's only a week long and it is fun to see the "best of the best" that people have to offer. I usually just do a search in my browser for "contest" and highlight the results. That will quickly direct me to the entries (if I want to look at the pictures) or non-entries (if I want to find the discussions).

Wow, how hard is it scroll down and skip all those with contest in the subject.

Maybe set up a different group just for the contest photos. Sifting through that stuff is a pain.

I agree with all of the contest entries clogging up the boards. It is almost as if regular discussion takes a backseat when a contest is going on.I agree that a seperate board needs to be set up for these contests.I do enjoy looking at photos, but can only take looking at so many shots of signal bridges and depots.

Last time I checked, the title of this was Western Railroad Discussion....I see the word discussion not photo gallery.

Again, great photography everyone. I am not putting any of it down. It is great that the TO crew does this every year to keep the visitors coming. But for those of us that come here to read the discussions, it is a pain to get thru all the photos. I also vote to have a separate place for the photo contests.

Who knows....my subscription ends tomorrow....I dont visit enough to renew so I may just let it go this time.

...boy, some of you guys have a hard life, sorry if I step on some toes, but I think you're really letting a very small thing bother you way too much, take the week off and come back when its over if it really irritates you that much...
...you really expect Todd to redesign the site, just so you might have to look a bit harder at your monitor screen?
