Pair of BNSF trains pause at the "Short Stop"
Author: JoCoLB

I couldn't resist snapping this photo when I spotted a couple of BNSF trains pausing side by side on the elevated track on the Fort Scott Sub in Olathe, KS, on May 8, 2009. The trains were pausing at a location next to a defunct convenience store, formerly known as the "Short Stop." One of the trains was a unit coal train and the other was a mixed manifest. The trains were headed south on runs from Kansas City to Fort Scott, KS.

I used to stop to get gas at that station when the BNSF crossed Santa Fe Ave at grade.......that was a great spot as the trains would be blasting through making their presence felt big time....
