Western Railroad Discussion > Captain Mine IL ???

Anyone know what Captain Mine IL is - what they load? I'm guessing it's some sort of sand/aggregate facility. It's on UP, looks like may be served out of Chester IL south east of St Louis. I've got a couple of lost cars that drifted down that way and am curious what they may end up loaded with (UP couldn't/wouldn't tell, go figure) Put on Eastern Board too.

It is, or was, a coal mine. Jointly served by UP and IC, between Chester and DuQuoin, IL.

Captain mine was owned by Arch Minerals.Was largest mine in state.Strip mine.Now is site of Southern Illinois Railcar.
