Western Railroad Discussion > Fascinating Concrete Tie Replacement VideoDate: 07/23/10 13:43 Fascinating Concrete Tie Replacement Video Author: BaltoJoey I just found this video that shows the process of replacing concrete ties. I hope I won't be violating any TOS by posting the link.

Date: 07/23/10 14:27 Re: Fascinating Concrete Tie Replacement Video Author: dnuck Fantastic machinery. I've always felt that some company should build a set of equipment like that.
This is a great video and its too bad it isn't narrated. Thanks much for posting it. dnuck Date: 07/23/10 14:34 Re: Fascinating Concrete Tie Replacement Video Author: Woodman Amazing. Thanks for it and I hope it is not illegal. Fun watching.

I was the Conductor on the P-811 during the mid to late 90's up on the Tehachapis' when the concrete ties were installed. It is quite a sight to watch it in person. The engineer on the train gets to a speed that the machine operator wants him at, and then the operator pretty much takes over the handling of the train from a seat on the machine. If the train needs to stop, the operator calls the head end and has the engineer stop, otherwise he does most of it himself. I would get bored sitting up on the engine all day so I'd climb down off it and walk back to the machine and watch it work for an hour or two. Yeah Tom, but ships still had sails when you were in the Navy!-BMT Date: 07/23/10 21:10 Re: Fascinating Concrete Tie Replacement Video Author: yak23flora Ahh, this is the video I was trying to post earlier today, but apparently it was cleaned out by the admins (thanks for keeping a clean forum!). Apparently I do not know how to post links properly to videos.
My question was about this machinery being used in the US, since the video looks European. I think this thread answers that. Date: 07/24/10 10:27 Re: Fascinating Concrete Tie Replacement Video Author: CarolVoss This video has apparently been all over the internet as several of my non-railfan friends found it and sent it along to make sure I saw it. It is pretty amazing.

Neat video, that's for sure Date: 07/24/10 11:14 Re: Fascinating Concrete Tie Replacement Video Author: markgillings Belgium...Infrabel is seen on the surfacing machinery.
