Carly Simon Ketchup Syndrome
Author: MacBeau

Is there a difference in shooting an arriving train when someone you know, and maybe even like, is on it? The question arose not long after this image of Metrolink 300 pulling into Rancho Cucamonga surfaced earlier this month, for it is markedly different from most of my other passenger shots, and the only thing I can attribute to this is the fact that a very good friend was going to step off that train to join me for a day of railroad photography.
Be of good cheer,
—Mac

Nice shot Mac. That 859 is in serious need of new paint though.

What's the last car on the train? Doesn't look like the Bombardiers like the other three. The new Rotem car?

Any analogies to pleasant surprises? I often see women suitable for "MacBeau + train + girl" shots onboard Metrolinks and Surfliners - they likely won't end up on a billboard along the Sunset Route like in your other thread.

Exactly, and they are being shunned by the riders I understand.

Do they have ride quality issues? They sure look nice, but we all know looks can be deceiving.

You know the front of the Metrolink unit is just screaming for a "Mac Industries" advert. Although it might cause a few more accidents along the Metrolink lines it would sure beat the Metro logo.-BMT

Rode on one a few weeks back. They are more cramped than the Bombardier cars. Ride is nice.

I will going on Jury Duty the last week of July and will be riding Metrolink in from El Monte to LAUS.
Will check out the popularity if the Rotems.
