What is the longest crew district (by mileage) in the United States?

How about the shortest?

One of the longest used to be from City of Industry. Ca to Phoenix... 432 miles on the Sprint Trains.. the run no longer exists... Shortest was the old RE-17 Pool from Dolores, Ca to Los Angeles...The old LA to West Colton pool was 57 miles...

At one time the UP had a 47 mile (?... help me out here, PRose!) passenger crew district between Salina & Junction City, KS.

One of the shorter ones on the UP that I know of is Dunsmuir, Ca to Klamath Falls, Or. I believe its right around or just shy of 100 miles.

I thought UP crews ran through to Roseville?

True, but there's a Hauler that runs between Fresno and Bakersfield. At one time
they tried running this as a one day turn and we all knew how well that would work.
Long pool is Elko to Sparks via Portola, it's like 426 or so.

There is a Roseville to Bakersfield pool based in Roseville and a Bakersfield to Fresno pool based in Bakersfield. I believe the latter also covers Bakersfield to Yermo.

They mostly cover the mwcfr, mbkfr and returns. As well as any grain trains, loaded and empty going to and from Famoso, Goshen and some of the Traver's. Also cover for when Roseville crews are short and if normal Roseville trains have abnormal work en-route.

Galesburg, IL to Peoria, IL (Pekin, IL). Less then around an hour or so.

As I mentioned in one of the previous threads about this, there are NS runs between Detroit and Toledo that are around 60 miles, if not shorter -- though some trips in that pool are also a bit longer, depending on where in Detroit they originate. CSX also has a Detroit-Toledo pool, but their hauls are generally a little longer since their primary Detroit-Toledo route, via Plymouth, Mich., is a bit longer.

If there are CSX crews that have regular jobs between Cleveland and Willard, OH, or Marion and Willard, OH, they've also got it pretty good mileage-wise, but that is surely made up for by all the time they often burn up waiting to get into Willard.

Shortest route:

How about the crew for the Eugene Hauler from Albany Oregon to Eugene, Oregon.. Something like 45-47 miles one way.. So, makes it like 90-92 miles round trip..

Longest passenger district I knew about: 536 miles from Ogden to Sparks, NV for conductors on Amtrak-SP in the 70s.

Winslow to Needles is 293 miles.
Winslow to Phoenix is 300 miles.

Both long pools.
