Yesterday's STUWC along the Yuma Sub
Author: DRGW

As shown in westernking's post below, UP ran a deadhead operation lifesaver special from Tucson Az, to West Colton, Ca. Southern Pacific heritage unit 1996 was the leader along with the 7872 set up in push pull mode. Below are a few shots from a early morning chase.

First shot is at Cabazon where the train was doing every bit of 70+mph and made for quite a chase up to Beaumont.

Second is the train heading into the big curve just west of Downtown Beaumont.

Third shot is of a eastbound manifest that the special would meet at Hinda crossovers, since the westbound main was out of service thanks to a track gang working near El Casco.

Next is the manifest passing the special holding at Hinda.

And lastly at El Casco

Enjoy, DRGW

Nice series, I like the light in pic #2. Strange they would run the train in a push-pull set-up on a deadhead move all the way from Tucson to Colton!
