Western Railroad Discussion > Four trains in 20 minutes in Shawnee

Did some quick railfanning this afternoon, seen 4 eastbounders in 15 minutes and waited about 10 minutes for the westbound to come through. This little spot in Shawness always cracks me up for the road that used to be across the tracks, but no longer is there, but the gates are still there and and active. They used to have arms on them, but I see they finally took them off.

After that I had to head as my batteries were almost dead on the camcorder and the camera

Looks like they still have the crossing signals up & working for that crossing that's been removed for years. I think it's a QZ now, but when I was still working two years ago, we had to blow for that crossing because the "W" boards were still a 1/4 mile in each direction. Here's a shot taken a few years ago durng a blizzard, out train stopped almost at the same spot as the one in your last shot.
