Signal Sunday: Mendon, MO
Author: santafe199

On the return leg of my recent trip to Illinois I visited Mendon, Missouri hoping to catch a WB train in that late afternoon golden sunlight passing through the still standing searchlight signal-equipped bridges. A clear signal indicated a westbound train was lined up on main #1 but the train came too late. So I shot the next best thing: I shot some sunset silhouettes. Enjoy...

1. 2. & 3. Various scenes at the crossover plant in Mendon, MO. Shown are the not-long-for-this-world signal bridges with the classic searchlight signals still directing traffic for Santa Fe successor BNSF.

4. The classic Santa Fe style station sign is also still standing, but for how long?
