UP Jeff City Sub

The contractor for the UP Osage River )Jeff City MO Sub) crossing bridge (OCCI) is the same contractor that built the replacement bridge in Iowa for UP's Kate Shelley bridge. Below are some pictorial updates of the new bridge at Osage City for those of you that are construction geeks. All the bridge pictures were taken on the west side of the Osage River.

1. From NORTH (not south) side of tracks looking east.

2. From NORTH (not south_ side looking slightly west towards "downtown" Osage City. The tracks go from double to single for the existing bridge at this point in the current configuration.

3. From SOUTH (not north) side of tracks again looking east. The line curves gently to the left after it crosses the river and heads east. Some steel has been set for the new span,

Two more to follow....

Thanks to Mexrail for drawing my attention to my befuzzled direction bump!!

And UP was kind enough to send a short stacker east just then. It had been held until the westbound Amtrak cleared. Both pictures are from the SOUTH side of the tracks -- the high ground. The water tower in the background of #5 is near the State Emergency Management Agency HQ and the Algoa Correctional Facility for the Missouri Department of Corrections. So...

5. One unit on the head end and

6. One DPU!

Thanks for looking!!
